Four Good Reasons to Join a CSA

This was an email from Erin Barnett of Local Harvest. She lists four good reasons to join a CSA this year.

This month, with the economic stimulus package on the news day and night, we putting a twist on all this and presenting you with our "Top Four Reasons You'll Save Money by Joining a CSA."

  1. Fresh produce = tasty produce. This means your family is more likely to want to EAT it. Nothing wastes your food budget faster than tossing food out uneaten.
  2. No guarantees, but CSAs oftentimes deliver more food for your dollar than either the grocery store or the farmers market.
  3. Fresh produce is GOOD for you. Call it preventative medicine and think of all the money/time/energy you save by doing all you can to stay healthy.
  4. Having great produce around the house will prompt you to cook more and eat out less.

Convinced? Ready to at least check out what's available in your area? We've got over 2,300 CSAs listed in our national directory, a big handful of which offer their shares for sale through our on-line catalog. If you find one of those, you'll be able to reserve your share in just a few clicks!

Until next time, eat well and take good care.
