Pickles, Sweet Corn Failure, and Chuck Norris

Those little watermelon looking things in some of your boxes this week are not mini watermelons. They're Mexican Gherkin Cucumbers. I pickled some this week but so far they are delicious to eat right off the vine. They taste like a cucumber on the inside but the outer skin is slightly sour giving them a sweet and sour taste.

I also pickled some banana peppers.

Sweet corn crop failure. The Golden Bantam sweetcorn has been, unfortunately, very appetizing to the birds and raccoons. I have some more corn planted though as a backup and it will be ready in September. Tonight I am moving my scarecrow, "Little Chuckie" to the corn.
