Good Week of Plantings!

Farmer Dave and the farmer's wife had their portrait taken last week in front of the farm. Hope you like it!

Oh, and how does that song go by the Eurythmics....Here comes the rain again? Well, it is here again, but it is now helping all the stuff we put in the ground over the past five days instead of flooding us out.

Here is a list of what went in the ground over the weekend:
Strawberry plants, artichokes, wildflowers(echinacea, German Chamomile, Cape Daisy, Cosmos, Giant Zinnia, Calendula), bush beans, asparagus, French Breakfast Radishes, Leeks, Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Basil, Oregano, arugula, and lettuces (Great Lakes, Bibb, Black Seeded Simpson, Mescalin, and more onion chives).

I'll put up some pictures as things start to poke through the soil. Meanwhile, here are some pictures of us plowing the field where the sweet corn, melons, peppers and tomatoes will go. Also, check out the chicken house. We will be putting a chicken run in and we are open to names for it if you have any ideas. I liked Little Gitmo, but some thought that was too political and potentially threatening to the chickens. Maybe just Chicken Run, like the movie.

We will not have CSA egg shares this year but we think we might offer a separate egg share next year. Stay tuned for that. Most of the flowers are wildflowers, which are good for the garden. Some may be good for cutting flowers. We'll experiment with that this year by giving you some cut flowers in your boxes once in a while.
